I’m sleepy so I’m not sure if it makes any sense but here it is. I hope to do better Friday and have it be longer
After his announcement Lemon Drop left Dio to dangle from the wall. Apparently not only had Lemon Drop picked up some of his mother’s evilness, he developed some new torture methods of his own.
Dio shivered as the blocking magic on the shackles caused his body to ache from the feedback. These types cuffs prevented Dio from using magic by reversing the power back into his body.
He hated them.
A popping sound jerked Dio’s attention to the left. “There you are!” Sillybean said, gleefully hopping from foot to foot. “We’ve been looking everywhere for you.”
“Varick is here?” Joy rippled through Dio, overpowering his discomfort. The idea of his mate coming to his rescue cheered Dio up.
“He’s on his way.”
To Dio’s surprise Sillybean pulled a cell phone out of his baggy pants pocket. He dialed someone and squeaked into the phone. “He’s here!”
A series of nodding and agreeing noises followed his announcement. As Dio watched the little demon disconnected the line and gave Dio a bright smile. “He’ll be here soon.”
“Who will be here? Varick?” Dio asked.
Sillybean grinned. “Of course your mate is coming. He followed your scent here.”
“Then why didn’t he come?” Dio yearned to see Varick with an ache almost as powerful as the cuff’s spell.
“He’s taking care of other things. He’ll be here soon.” Sillybean vanished before Dio had a chance to ask any more questions.
Images of Varick flew through Dio’s head like a flipbook, each memory adding a piece to the next one. His stomach growled. He needed his mate for more than one reason.
Screams had Dio’s head snapping up and a loud crash jolted him in his cuffs.
A familiar scent in the air had him smiling several minutes before the door opened.
“Miss me?” Varick asked.
Dio tilted his head considering. “Maybe a little,” he admitted.
“Good because I missed you.” Need and relief flashed in Varick’s eyes.
“Then take me home and show me how much.”
Varick smiled. Reaching up he yanked on Dio’s chains.
And yanked again.
Puzzled he stared at the cuffs for a moment. “What are they?”
“Magic drainers,” Dio said. “They might be locking onto your natural magic.”
“Then they better get a good feel because I’m not going to let it stop me.” With a low growl Varick reached up and yanked the chains from the wall. “Part of the problem solved,” he said with a wide smile.
