Happy Birthday, Amber Kell. Thank you for having me over as part of your celebrations.
This year we were prompted to consider what fictional characters we would like to have as our guests if we were to hold a party. Picking was harder than I thought it might be, especially in terms of thinking about the reasons for inviting them beyond my personal lustings (not that that’s a bad thing lol).
So, who to invite to share my Victoria sponge…
First, a couple of my favourite characters from books series. I’d pick Kay Scarpetta from the Patricia Cornwell series of books. I’ve always enjoyed the series and it was one of the first series in general that I got into as a teen. The character of Scarpetta spoke to me I guess as a female protagonist and my love for solving a mystery, and inspired my ambition to one day write a series of crime books. So yeah, I think it would be interesting to talk to her.
And also Neville Longbottom from the Harry Potter series. The growth of his character across the series was kind of inspiring. His back story, his bravery, his heart – I enjoyed the character in both the books and the movies, and boy did he grow up well in the movies lol.
Then if I were to choose someone from one of my own books, I’d like to invite Kerry from the Dead Things series. She was a character that was supposed to be some simple side character, and likely cannon fodder, but the more I wrote of her the more I fell in love with her and just couldn’t bring myself to do it. She turned out to be a bit of a badass.
Now for someone from a favourite TV show or movie, I’m torn between Faith and Spike from the Buffy and Angel series. Partly for their phwoar factor but also the complexities of their characters. Are they good, bad, good, bad again? I think they’d be fun guests so I’ll have them both.
A guest to satisfy my love of super humans and in particular ice powers (think of the party tricks!) I’d invite Todoroki from My Hero Academia. He’s a cool (ha cool!) character and have enjoyed seeing his character grow, especially because of his background. Would like to give him slice of cake and a big hug.
And lastly, I was trying to think about a fun character to invite, someone that’ll bring some laughs. It was hard to remember the last time I watched or read something that had me proper laughing and smiling, but I think it was probably Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but not sure I can pick a favourite from the gang of dorks so all of them would be fun.
So there we have it. A weird mix that’s for sure, but weird kind of suits me I think. Happy Birthday to me!

The first in a new series with RJ Scott.
Darcy’s newest assignment is to play the role of boyfriend to a wealthy socialite, but he never expected the intense attraction to his date’s brother. Falling for Adrian is dangerous and certainly not part of the plan.
Adrian has been as unlucky in love as his sister, but he doesn’t approve of hiring a boyfriend, whatever the reason. Until he meets Darcy. Then he comes to realize that love can happen in the most unexpected of ways.
One week. That is all the two men needed to fall in lust, but will they have a lifetime to fall in love?

Sounds like a great party, I think everybody would find someone of their liking 😉
Thank you for stopping by 🙂
Fun party!
If I make the cake, I usually make a marble bundt cake (chocolate & vanilla swirl) and ice it with a vanilla buttercream and then warm up both a vanilla butter cream & milk chocolate icing & dribble them both over the top & put any extra in the center, it’s really yummy. If it is bought, then a lemon cake.

*drools a little* Thank you for your comment 🙂
Neville’s an awesome guest (is it wrong that he and Luna are my two favorite characters?). Faith and Spike would be hella entertaining at a party.
It’s a bit of a mixed guest list LOL – thank you for taking the time to comment 🙂
Great party
Forgot to add my favourite cake is chocolate mud cake i have it all the time
Mmmm chocolate cake. Thank you for your comment 🙂
I’m really wanting a carrot cake I think. Been a while since I had some.
Sounds like a great party. 😁
Oh not had carrot cake in ages. Thank you for commenting 🙂
What fun!

If I was to have a cake I’d go for an Apple Struedel or have hundreds of Fairy Cakes in different flavours for all the guests to choose from.
I like the fairy cake idea. Thank you for stopping by 🙂
Unfortunately I am gluten free so cake is not plentiful. But I love carrot cake
Carrot cake is great. Thank you for your comment 🙂

*your – oops!
I’d definitely do a maple cake with maple frosting! Just like a big maple bar…….yummy!
Never had maple cake but sounds great. Thank you for your comment 🙂
My favorite cake is an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen.
Oh. Yum. Thank you for stopping by 🙂
I would have an ice cream cake. that would be fantastic. thanks
Sounds great. Thank you for your comment 🙂
Since I moved to the East Coast, it has been all about the ice cream cake, but my favorite cake I’ve ever had was one I made. Lemon cake with lemon icing and strawberries.
Lemon is yummy. That’s three ice cream cakes in the comments so far… never had one but feel like I should lol Thank you for your comment 🙂
I would like either a carrot or pumpkin cake.
Pumpkin cake… that’s a new one. Interesting. Thank you for your comment 🙂
My favorite cake is Lemon with real lemon frosting and no strawberries.
Yum. Lemon. Thank you for stopping by 🙂
I would like almond poppyseed cake with vanilla frosting.
Oh that sounds nice. Thank you for your comment 🙂
sounds like a great party. I prefer cheesecake from cheesecake factory. 🙂
I’m a chocoholic so my favorite cake would be chocolate cake mix with chocolate frosting. Decorated with chocolate frosting roses of varying colors of chocolate from dark to white.
4 years ago when I went thru chemo my taste buds turned off so everything tasted like cardboard even chocolate so for 5 months I didn’t eat it. Now I eat chocolate all the time. Chocoholic!!!
I can get behind chocolate. Glad it’s tasty again! Thank you for your comment 🙂

I’ve already read Darcy and enjoyed it very much
PS as to cake just about anything but chocolate for some reason I really dislike chocolate cakes
Glad you liked Darcy. I’ll eat most cake, but as a birthday one I do just like a standard sponge lol. Thank you for commenting 🙂
Anything as long as it’s chocolate. LOL
Interesting party.
Chocolate it is! Thank you for commenting 🙂
Cake Really, no thank you… But I do love pie! So it would have to be pumpkin pie!
I love Red Velvet. Thank you for sharing and I loved Darcy.
Almost any kind of cake will do, as long as it has frosting and doesn’t have coffee in it!
Alas, I’m dairy intolerant so I don’t eat cake. I’d have a selection of tiny pies for the guests to choose from–everything from lemon meringue and pecan pie to fruit pies like cherry, apple, peach, and blackberry.
Sounds like it could be a fun party with a good mix of fun characters.
I’m not much into cakes, I prefer ice cream, lol. But a chocolate and vanilla cake is fine.
Hmm chocolate and raspberry cake. Yum
My choice would be for the hazelnut cake from Publix that my twin and I got for our birthday this year. It was decadent.
I love the Baskin Robbins Roll Cakes with either Pralines and Cream or Mint Chip for the ice cream part, (both go great with the fudge and chocolate cake.)
Chocolate Decadence. Chocolate cake, about half of an inch of chocolate fudge icing, chocolate cake, and more fudge icing.
The book looks good. I would want Chocolate cake and if I needed two either carrot or spice cake.
My cake would be a Death by Chocolate cake, that’s assuming I can find someone in Australia who will make it. Yummy!!
ice cream cake or caramel mud cake
great selection for the guests know of nearly all those characters 🙂
I love ice cream cake with peanut butter and chocolate. The one Coldstone makes is my fave.
Marble cake with chocolate chips, Tiramisu, or Green Tea cake.
