Amber had this great idea to talk about what a fantasy birthday party I would throw for myself might look like. It would be a pretty chill event, since crowds are so not my thing, but it would also be a who’s who of Jaime’s Fictional Crushes and Potential Besties, for sure.
Newt, of course. Because who doesn’t love the younger Scamander brother and his Hufflepuff ways? (Okay, so I maybe am influenced by the fact I’m about to go watch Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald in about a half hour of writing this blog post.) I think Newt would need some other low-key guests to help him feel at ease, so I would also invite Ira and Jed from Wheels and Heels who have an amazing ability to make others feel comfortable, and the twins Coby and Bruce from Patchwork Heaven, because if any of my contemporary characters can believe in magic, they can.
And since Newt loves his creatures, I feel like he’d bring out the very best side of Emile from Sunshine in the Dragon’s Heart, and he’d see great things in any of the residents from L’Ange, because no matter how bad ass Mary Calmes makes her alphas, they all have the secret core of kindness that makes them awesome! (Don’t tell her I said that. She insists Arman is Not Nice, and Scary AF. Linus and I know the truth.)
And to round out the evening, and because, while they may be boisterous and more lively than the other guests, they are still loveable, I’d invite an assortment of hobbits – probably Merry and Pippin, because they know all the good drinking songs, and dwarves – I’m thinking Bofur and Bombur, since they seem to like a good party.
Eclectic, I know, but even in real life, I have some diverse tastes, and a party would include talkers, partiers and entertainers. Also pies. All the pies.
Blurb for Sunshine in the Dragon’s Heart
When Sunny retires to the northern Ontario wilderness to mourn his parents’ deaths, he’s hoping the change of scenery will afford him some peace and quiet.
His hopes are soon spectacularly dashed.
In self-imposed exile, dragon Emile runs across the Fold between his dimension and Sunny’s—and right into Sunny’s arms. Centuries out of touch with human culture, bright, beautiful Emile incinerates any hope Sunny had for an ordinary existence. With dryads and water sprites coming to life all around them, Sunny can’t deny the magic Emile brings to his life—or his heart. But that same magic leads the unrelenting dragon who would keep Emile captive right to them. To save his love, Sunny will have to reach deep and find some magic of his own.

Dex from the Thirds.
Dex! OMG, yes. he woudl be so much fun. Also, I’d know his sound track.
Hobbies and dwarves surely know how to throw a party! As for my favourite fictional character, I think I would go with Harry Potter… or maybe Buffy and Spike. It is difficult to decide 😉
That was my issue, too, Susana. Hard to pick just a few.
Dex from THIRDS that man knows how to throw a party. Who else would think to have a pre-birthday birthday party?
Exactly.
It would have to Dex from the third
I sense a trend! lol! Dex definitly goes on the list for nest time.
That’s soooooo hard I have so many but I guess it would be Reed Kensington in Up in Arms by Kindle Alexander. He is the complete package kind, honorable, compassionate, loving.
That’s a good combo in anyone, Looney.
Lovely guests. I’d invite Newt too (and Picket). I would invite his trusty Nifflers, but who knows what they might steal?
Book sounds great.
Picket for sure. and the niffler babies are cute, but…they might pilfer all my shinies!
Valerius from Seize the Night
An interesting choice, Sherry. I think yours might be a great party!
Mary Calmes’ Jory Keyes from A Matter Of Time series
I think I’d save Jory for a coffee lunch the day after the party. Just in case, because you know, he might get into trouble, and we wouldn’t want to disrupt the party.
I love Dragons the book sounds very interesting. Your party is fantastic should be a great time.
Thanks Bobbi. Low key, and yet interesting nad entertaiing at the same time.
Most interesting partier is Dexter J Daley from Charlie Cochet’s Third series. Lol.
Definitely a favourite, Snadra. He can be in charge of the music. And snacks.
Dex would throw a great party. I would love him to be there.
I’m thinking a lot of people would love to party with Dex. lol!
oh man I have so many to choose from but probably Tam from Amber’s Trials of Tam book.
Heh. I’d choose one of the original Greek party boys, Poseidon and his mate (son of Fenrir) Claude from Lisa Oliver’s You’ve Got to be Kidding Me. Talk about bringing down the house!
Definitely a serious party there!
I agree with several of the others. I would want Dex from THIRDS. So much fun!
He does seem to be a favourite, Jennifer!
Sounds like a great party… And who can’t resist dragons.
Not me 🙂
Sounds like a fun time.
I hope so, H.B.
Vlad from night prince series
Oh see, now I never thought of him. Good choice!
I think I would want to have Simi from the Dark-Hunter series.
I think you and my eldest would enjoy the same sorts of parties I haven’t read those books, but I have been told much about them.
It would be the main characters from Kindle Alexanders book Always!
I hear they would be very fun to have a round. Sounds like I have some reading in my future.
Maybe Griff and Dante from Damon Suede’s HOT HEAD, or Lucky from Eden Winters’ DIVERSION series (though he’d probably start a fistfight or two)…
At least with Griff and Dante around, any trouble would be quashed rather quickly!
I can’t wait to read this book!
Thanks Serena! I hope you enjoy it when you do!
Oh, yes. Dec from the Thirds series is a definite winner or perhaps an anime hero. There are a lot of cuties in there, though so it would be hard to pick.
Oops. Dex. It changed the name to Dec.
I’d entertain pretty uch anyo f the THIRDS folks!
Jaynell and Thomas from A Wizard’s Touch. Think of all the magic tricks he could perform.
Magic tricks always welcome.
