Today is My Birthday & First Contest!

Today is my birthday. I turn 51 this year, so yay I made it another year. We will be running several contests today. One of my closest friends is visiting this week to celebrate with me which is always fun. Later I will be going to see the new Ghostbusters. I’ve been a lifelong movie junkie. I love movies, even bad ones 🙂

  23. I don’t really watch movies much anymore. When I did, I liked something liked with same core cast like the original ghostbusters 1 and 2.

  26. Happy Birthday. My favorite movie? I am not sure I have one. Independence Day is one of my favorites and is the first one to come to mind. However, I had a crush on Tom Hiddleston so maybe Avengers?

    My favorite movie, hmmm, there are many… I think I am going to go with one of the first I saw in the movie theaters as a young girl, maybe even THE first. It was Star Wars 6 – Return of the Jedi and we went with the entire family plus friends of my parents. I remember being entranced by the Star Wars world, and I loved the Ewoks (remember, I was very young). This is the experience and the movie that started a great love of fantasy and science fiction that lasts through today in both movies and books.

    1. I still remember the first time as a earthquake when I was a young kid so thumbs up to the disaster movies.

  36. As unrealistic as they were, I still love the musicals of the 1950s, so my favorite movie is Singin’ in the Rain with Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, and Donald O’Connor.

  42. Happy Bday! not a big movie watcher (haven’t gone to the theater to see one in years) but there are some, mostly older movies like the Thin Man, that I’ll stop and watch when I notice it’s on TV

    I have a few favorites that I love to see, that make me happy and I don’t mind rewatching: LOTR/The Hobbit movies, Fast and Furious movies, Star Wars series, Evolution and many more.

  57. Happy birthday! My favorite movie is all time is The Princess Bride. Our friends quoted it at our wedding and we introduced our children to it, so it is part of our family lexicon.

  61. Happy Birthday! I will be 50 on the 30th, Yay to the both of us! My favorite movie is Arsenic and Old Lace. Every time Cary Grant yells “I’m the son of a sea cook,” I fall in love with him al over again.

    Growing up very rural, we only got 3-5 channels on tv via an old antenna. In the 70’s one of those channels would have a special program once a month on Saturday called The SFM Network. I remember it so well and what a treat. I fell in love with so many of the old classics, but The Jungle Book and Brigadoon were some of my favorites, then and now.

Here are a few: anything by Mel Brooks (e.g., Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Men in Tights); the 1990s live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trilogy; The Replacements with Keanu Reeves and Gene Hackman; The Rocky Horror Picture Show with Tim Curry; Renaissance Man with Danny DeVito; Desperately Seeking Susan with Madonna and Aidan Quinn; Jumpin’ Jack Flash with Whoopi Goldberg; The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension!; Auntie Mame with Rosalind Russell; In & Out with Kevin Kline; and Howl’s Moving Castle. And those aren’t the Christmas movies! 🙂

  84. I have to say I love movies so I have quite a few that I love to watch but my favorite of all times is alien. I really love the part where it burst out of the chest. It was the first time they ever had something like that happen in a movie.
