Guest Today is Meredith Russell!

One of my favourite birthdays… April 3rd 2010

This is the beautiful apartment my then-boyfriend booked for my twenty-ninth birthday. I say then-boyfriend as he is now my husband of a year and a half. He took me away for my birthday that year and I was pretty excited as he usually manages to find the most random, interesting, and gorgeous places to go away for short breaks. We went by train, and I have to say my little face was a picture as we pulled into Birmingham New Street Station. A city 35 minutes away was not quite my idea of a birthday getaway. But then looks can be deceiving and I admit I was wrong.

The apartment was in the iconic, cylindrical Rotunda building in the city and it was beautiful – modern, white, accent colours, floor-to-ceiling windows the length of the apartment overlooking the city. It was great and only got better. The morning of my birthday, I was treated to a bacon sandwich (he knows how to treat a girl), and then I was sat down in front of his laptop and he played me a video of old photographs of us he’d made to Taylor Swift’s Love Story. Can you see where this is going?

In the video was a marriage proposal and then I was presented with a ticket to the Jewellery Quarter to go and choose an engagement ring. After 10 years together, buying a house, joint bank accounts, discussing starting a family, he finally asked me to marry him and of course I said yes. We went and picked a ring, had a lovely lunch, and then spent the rest of the day snuggled on the couch in dressing gowns and watched DVDs. It was perfect, and even more so as he said he loved me – something he hardly ever says as he tells me he doesn’t need to, because I should already know.

It turned out he was a big softy, just like me. I love a little romance and that brings me to my latest release, written with RJ Scott, Follow the Sun.

Blurb:

Lucas Madison is in the Bahamas for his sister’s wedding on the beautiful and idyllic island of Sapphire Cay.

He has the weight of the world on his shoulders. With the stress of his job, the loss of his friend, and faced with his own medical crisis, Lucas arrives on the white sands of Sapphire Cay gray and exhausted. His only thought is to see his sister married and happy.

Dylan Gray is a free-spirited traveler who literally follows the sun. Never settling in one place for long, he earns his way from state to state and continent to continent.  But there’s something about Sapphire Cay that draws him back over and over. A feeling of home.

When these two men meet, both have decisions to make and directions to choose. And maybe together, they can make the right ones and follow not only the sun, but also their hearts.

This book is the first in a series set on the island of Sapphire Cay. Find information on the series and how to buy the book here (http://sapphirecay.weebly.com/)

Giveaway:

For a chance to win a copy of Follow the Sun (or a copy of one of my other books), please leave a comment with your email address. I’ll select a winner on Saturday 10th.

And just one more thing to do and that is to wish Amber Kell a great Birthday Bash and also say a massive thank you for having me.

    1. If the right thing comes along he will do. He does like to find quirky places or events and manages to impress me. The wedding was even more sappy as in his speech saying why he picked Birmingham he said it was because he gets the train through there when he travels for work and therefore will always think of me… OMG the tears lol

  8. That is a wonderful birthday memory. I hope I also get as memorable a proposal. Also, I have this book on a wish list. Since I usually don’t win things, I will be buying it. Maybe as a Christmas gift to myself so I can enjoy the sun and beaches vicariously when it’ll be cold and dreary with no snow in Louisville.

  9. Your hubs really sounds like a keeper, hang on to him. Book sounds awesome, adding to my wishlist now.
